Identify Suspects And Threat Actors Using Cryptocurrency

Criminals of all types are turning to blockchains to launder funds gained through illicit activity. Cryptocurrency-based crime hit an all-time high in 2021 with illicit addresses receiving $14 billion globally - up from $7.8 billion in 2020. Likewise, nation-state and non-state actors use cryptocurrency to evade sanctions, fund terrorism, conduct malign influence and procure illicit items. Fortunately, their activity leaves a trail of data and the public blockchain keeps an immutable transaction record that investigators and LEAs can follow — they just need to be read it the right way.

This webinar will look at the tools and technologies that LEAs need to degrade criminal financial networks, track bad actors, enable the seizing of funds, and successfully investigate the most important cases including counterterrorism and counterintelligence. Specific topics covered include:

  • How blockchain analysis tools link cryptocurrency transactions to real-world entities
  • Using advanced data exploitation and tracing techniques to identify illicit activity on the blockchain
  • Evidence collection and monitoring
  • Case studies and examples
